Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam: Why does Pakistani nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer say that A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was an ordinary scientist?

0

AQ Khan, the so-called Father of the Islamic Bomb, ensured Pakistan get the nuclear bomb through deceit and espionage. He didn’t do anything using his own strength and knowledge for his country. Afterwards, he is put under house arrests for selling copies of the nuclear weapon designs to North Korea. After doing all these acts, his life didn’t turn out the way he expected for someone who gave the Islamic countries the first nuclear weapon.

When he looks across the border, he sees APJ Abdul Kalam, a fellow Muslim in a Hindu majority country,  who is considered the father of India’s successful missile program.

He sees Kalam as one of the members of the circle of trust whose expertise and knowledge made India get her own nuclear bomb. He sees how Kalam’s profile in the country shot up after 1998 Pokhran tests.

AQ Khan sees the love and affection the people had for Kalam that resulted in him becoming the People’s president. Indians, of all color and creed, has accepted the appointment of Kalam as the president without any voice of criticism.

He sees the flowers and speeches given to Kalam in his honour,  at both international and national events. He sees that luminaries from across the world, whether it is POTUS or Canadian PM, make sure to meet and greet Kalam whenever he visits their countries. AQ Khan knows very well that no foreign dignitary would  felicitate or even meet him after he was caught leaking nuclear secrets to known rogue nations.

He sees the students, whether kids or adults, thronging around Kalam and enthusiastically eating up every word that comes out of the mouth of Kalam. He sees Kalam getting invited to every small and big functions that happen in schools and colleges and wonders why he is not given any such invites.

He sees the whole nation mourning when Kalam was given the state funeral where the VIPs from every section of the society have attended. AQ Khan knows that it is going to be an uphill task to make sure that when he dies he too gets a similar funeral with state honours.

Looking at Kalam’s life and seeing how Indians treated their hero, he takes a long hard look at what he got from his country for doing all that he have done, and he isn’t impressed at all. Thus he acts just like the fox in the Aesop’s fable who couldn’t get the grapes.

In short, AQ Khan has disdain for Kalam simply because he could never get what Kalam had.

The most underrated Indian ever “Shaheed Sardar Bhagat Singh JI”

0

When it comes to the freedom movement of India, We remember Gandhi, Nehru , Sardar Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose ; but many of us don’t even attribute / remember the sacrifices and courage of this man :

1. Bhagat Singh left home for Kanpur when his parents tried to get him married, saying that if he married in slave India, “my bride shall only be death” and joined Hindustan Socialist Republican Association.

2. He along with Sukhdev planned to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai and plotted to kill the Superintendent of Police James Scott in Lahore. However in a case of mistaken identity, John Saunders, the Assistant Superintendent of Police was shot.

3. Although a Sikh by birth, he shaved his beard and cut his hair to avoid being recognised and arrested for the killing. He managed to escape from Lahore to Calcutta.

4. A year later, he and Batukeshwar Dutt threw bombs in the Central Assembly Hall in Delhi, and shouted “Inquilab Zindabad!” He did not resist his arrest at this point.

5. During interrogation, the British came to know about his involvement of in the death of John Saunders a year earlier.

6. At the time of his trial, he didn’t offer any defence, rather used the occasion to propagate the idea of India’s freedom.

7. His death sentence was pronounced on 7 October 1930, which he heard with defiant courage.

8. During his stay in jail, he went on a hunger strike against the policy of better treatment for prisoners of foreign origin.

9. He was sentenced to be hanged on 24 March 1931, but it was brought forward by 11 hours to 23 March 1931 at 7:30 p.m.

10. It is said that no magistrate was willing to supervise the hanging. After the original death warrants expired it was an honorary judge who signed and oversaw the hanging.

11. Legend says, Bhagat Singh marched to the gallows with a smile on his face and his one last act of defiance was shouting “Down with British imperialism.”

12. India’s most famous freedom fighter was only 23 years old when he was hanged. His death inspired hundreds to take up the cause of the freedom movement.

In a country dominated by the word Gandhi, there are innumerable other unsung heroes of the freedom movement of this country, One such hero is Shaheed Bhagat Singh. No real attempts were made by the non-violent movement led by Gandhi to get Bhagat Singh and his associates released. Sukhdev who was also hanged along with Bhagat, had written a letter to Gandhi just before their hanging, protesting against Gandhi’s disapproval of their revolutionary tactics.

The same year/month (1931 March) in which Bhagat Singh and his fellow comrades (Shivhari Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar) were hanged, Gandhi signed a pact with Lord Irwin, the then viceroy of India and got all his followers released, who were arrested by the British earlier for participating in Gandhi’s civil disobedience movement.

Some lesser-known Indian Special Forces that are among the best in the world…

0

1) MARCOS

MARCOS or Marine Commandos is India’s most lethal special force. Though they are trained to engage in battle on all terrains, MARCOS commandos are super-experts in maritime warfare. The physical test to join MARCOS is so gruesome that more than 80 percent of the applicants drop out in the first, three-day long, physical fitness and aptitude test. Those who successfully complete the test are subjected to a five-week-long process called the ‘hell’s week’ where commandos are put through extreme sleep deprivation coupled with the most difficult physical tasks. These commandos are even capable of firing while lying down, standing, running full-sprint, even backwards and looking into a mirror – with a reaction time of 0.27 seconds. The final stages of the training include an 800-meter long thigh-high mud crawl called the ‘death crawl’, loaded with 25 kg of gear which is concluded with shooting a target 25 meters away with a  man standing next to it.
Old MARCOS gear.

2) Para Commandos

Para commandos is one of the most highly trained special forces of the Indian Army. Because of the extremely fatal nature of the operations they perform, they are kept at optimum level of operational efficiency and physical fitness, and only the most physically fit, mentally robust, intelligent, and highly motivated soldiers are inducted in the fleet. Para commandos go through the most grueling commando training regimes in the world, apart from daily 20km runs with 60km baggage and man-to-man assault practices; they even have to free fall from belligerent heights of as much as 33,500 feet. They are also highly trained in terrain and environment warfare and deep sea diving. Their most notable and fatal operations included the 1971 war with Pakistan, the 1999 Kargil war and the infamous Operation Bluestar in 1984.

3) Garud Commando Force

With over 2000 commandos, the Garud Commando Force is a unit of the Indian Air Force and specializes in Airfield Seizure, Special Reconnaissance, Airborne Operations, Air Assault, Special Operations Combat Search and Rescue, and counter insurgency. The training for being a Garud commando is so tough that it can take up to 3 years to qualify as a fully operational Garud. Also, Garud commandos are extremely adept at anti-hijack and counter insurgency training, jungle and snow survival techniques, specialized weapon handling and advanced driving skills.

4) Ghatak Force

Ghatak force is a special operations infantry platoon that acts as shock troops and lead man-to-man assaults ahead of a battalion. They specialize in raids on enemy artillery positions, airfields, supply dumps and tactical headquarters while also being experts at directing artillery and air attacks on targets deep within enemy lines. Only the most physically and mentally fit soldiers make it into the Ghatak force which is usually 20-men strong. Since they face the enemy face-to-face, they are trained to be undisputed at heliborne assault, rock climbing, mountain warfare, demolitions, advanced weapons training, close quarter battle and infantry tactics.

5) National Security Guard Or Black Cats

Created in 1986, the NSG or Black Cats fall neither under Central Armed Police Forces nor under Paramilitary Forces of India. It’s instead a mix of commandos from both the Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces which is lead by a ‘Director General’ from the Indian Police Service.  Comprising two units – the Special Action Group (SAG), which consists entirely of Indian Army personnel; and the Special Ranger Groups (SRG) for counter terrorism activities – the NSG IS equipped with some of the most advanced weapons in the world. The selection process is so brutal that it has a dropout rate of 70-80 percent. And the few, who qualify to become NSGs, are sent off to train for another 9 months to become Phantom NSG Commandos.

6) COBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action)

Commando Battalion for Resolute Action is probably the only Indian special force that is specifically trained in guerilla warfare to tackle the notorious Naxalite groups in the country. A part of the CRPF, COBRA commandos are masters of camouflage, jungle warfare, parachute jumps, precision strikes and ambushes. Their sniper units are also one of the best among the armed forces of India.

7) Special Frontier Force

Created on 14th November 1962, the SFF is a paramilitary special force which specializes in special reconnaissance, direct action, hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, unconventional warfare and covert operations. This specialized force was created in the wake of another Sino-Indian war and it operates in sync with RAW (Research and Analysis Wing). The commandos are supremely trained in guerrilla tactics, mountain and jungle warfare, and parachute jumps

8) Force One

After the Mumbai terror attacks, the Maharashtra government brought together the best commandos and assembled the youngest Indian special force called Force One. The sole motive of this squad is to protect the Mumbai metropolitan area when under threat. Force One is one of the fastest response teams in the world and can get ready for action in less than 15 minutes. From over 3000 applications, 216 of the best soldiers were selected who were then trained under close guidance from the Israeli Special Forces

Generosity ….

There were about 70 scientists working on a very hectic project. All of them were really frustrated due to the pressure of work and the demands of their boss but everyone was loyal to him and did not think of quitting the job.
One day, one scientist came to his boss and told him – Sir, I have promised to my children that I will take them to the exhibition going on in our township. So I want to leave the office at 5 30 pm.
His boss replied “OK, You’re permitted to leave the office early today”
The Scientist started working. He continued his work after lunch. As usual he got involved to such an extent that he looked at his watch when he felt he was close to completion. The time was 8.30 PM. Suddenly he remembered of the promise he had given to his children.
He looked for his boss,,He was not there. Having told him in the morning itself, he closed everything and left for home.
Deep within himself, he was feeling guilty for having disappointed his children. He reached home. Children were not there. His wife alone was sitting in the hall and reading magazines. The situation was explosive, any talk would boomerang on him. His wife asked him “Would you like to have coffee or shall I straight away serve dinner if you are hungry.
The man replied “If you would like to have coffee, i too will have but what about Children ??”
Wife replied “You don’t know ?? Your manager came here at 5.15 PM and has taken the children to the exhibition ”
What had really happened was … The boss who granted him permission was observing him working seriously at 5.00 PM. He thought to himself, this person will not leave the work, but if he has promised his children they should enjoy the visit to exhibition. So he took the lead in taking them to exhibition.
The boss does not have to do it everytime. But once it is done, loyalty is established.

That is why all the scientists at Thumba continued to work under their boss even though the stress was tremendous.
By the way , can you guess as who the boss was ????????

RESPECTED EX-PRESIDENT OF INDIA , DR APJ ABDUL KALAM

He was none other than Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Ex- President of India…!!!

The most inspiring person in Bollywood

0

This man is truly inspiring…

Don’t worry folks this kid will grow up by the time this long answer ends 🙂 and sorry for the long answer.
let’s take a look at what is so inspiring about him..

  • Born to an army man father and a housewife mother from a middle class family, this person had absolutely no connections to the film industry, not even his distant relatives had any.
  • He failed to clear his 12th grade examinations in the first attempt but later cleared it with first class. He discontinued his education after that as he was more inclined towards sports and martial arts than academics.
  • He went to Bangkok after his 12th grade to learn Muay Thai(a Thai martial art form) . His family could only afford his onward journey ticket to Bangkok and he himself had to manage his expenses over there.
  • He had to work at a restaurant (named metro guest house) over there as a waiter cum part time chef and slept in the kitchen of the same restaurant to manage his expenses. He claims the days he spent in Bangkok were one of hardest ones of his life, which taught him the harsh realities of the world and made him stronger.
  • He had to  do many odd jobs after that to earn his living.
  • He bought Kundan jewellery(Indian imitation jewellery) from Delhi and sold it  in Mumbai, while taking back clothes from fashion street in Mumbai  to Delhi for selling those over there. Just to cover up for the travelling costs.
  • He sold UNICEF cards, just earning 5 paise(1 paisa=hundredth part of a rupee) per card.
  • He worked at a travel agency in Kolkata and Dhaka for 2-3 years on a miniscule salary.
  • He went door to door and asked people whether they were interested in learning karate, ran a small martial arts academy and earned just about 3K  a month by martial arts coaching.
  • Did modelling assignments for small firms which paid him higher money than he earned for the whole month by teaching martial arts, this made him think seriously about taking up modelling as his profession.
  • Worked as a background dancer with not so famous dance groups which performed at Shanmukhanand Hall, Mumbai.
  • As he could not afford to pay for shooting a portfolio , he worked as an assistant to ace photographer Jayesh Seth for some time to make up for his portfolio fees. That was his first interaction with the industry people.
  • After a lot of struggle he finally landed a role in a Bollywood a movie in the year 1991.

You may think that after getting a break in Bollywood, his struggle was over. His journey in Bollywood was not that easy one though. But today this man is the first superstar in Bollywood history whose films have collected more than 2000 crores(20 billion) in box office nett(as of Feb 2013), he has been the highest tax payer for many years, one of the highest paid actor, successful producer, Padma Shri awardee and a complete entertainer.

  • During the initial days of his career he got roles mainly in films which were considered to be B-grade movies and  had no godfather  in Bollywood. He tried to give his best in the movies he got to work in.
  • He is known to be a person who does most of his stunts without a body double since the times when there was no CGI used. Most of the actors who have recently started claiming of doing their own stunts  couldn’t even think of it if there was no CGI and modern tech.
  • At the time when people thought Khans and  Kapoors ruled the industry, he carved out his own path, without big banners and successful  directors and also without good release dates(the khans have had the privilege of festive and holiday releases most of the times). He has a massive fan following today inspite of all the above factors.
  • He is the fittest person in Bollywood (Salman Khan, whom some folks consider to be the fittest has said this). Man he is 48 and is aging gracefully. No Botox no facelift, really!
  • Holds a fifth degree black belt in martial arts, and is trying to make it a compulsory subject in schools since many years , has not been successful yet because of no initiative from the governments side.
  • He stays away from alcohol and smoking and all kind of body building supplements, kids if you wanna follow someone please follow him.
  • His training consists of weightless exercises, Parkour, various martial art forms and has a habit to sleep by 10 PM and wake up by 4.30AM. He has dinner before 8 PM. He strongly insists that everyone should atleast give an hour everyday for the wellness of their bodies.
  • He does philanthropic work time to time, runs a cancer hospital and and many more but tries to maintain a low profile about it.He always tries to stay away from all the controversies and cheap publicity gimmicks  organizes an annual martial arts championship to promote the sport and has given financial aid to many sportsmen till date.
  • He runs(in collaboration with Aditya Thakre)a self defence academy in Mumbai exclusively for women and has trained more than 300 women so far.
  • He has had bad patches a couple of times in his career due to bad choices of his films and directors who could not harness his true potential(at once he even considered quitting Bollywood and setting up a hotel with whatever money he had).People said his career was over , but he has always bounced back much stronger and better than ever before.
  • When asked about the secret of his tremendous success, he said “Each day after I wake up I touch my mother’s feet and take her blessings and  that is the secret of my success”and urges everyone to always respect and take care of their parents.
  • He has named his first production house after his father’s name.
  • He is a good cook too !

Who is he?

His name is

Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia.

Popularly known as Akshay Kumar.

look! he has grown up!

This man is a living example of the fact that with tremendous hard work, never give up attitude and determination anyone can achieve anything in life. So,

It’s never about where you come from, it’s always about where you want to be. If a waiter who once struggled to make 3K a month can become the highest grossing superstar in Bollywood history, then you too can achieve your dreams.

thanks for reading, hope you find it inspiring.

Wartime heroism binds the hometown of Italian marine Massimiliano Latorre to India

0

The expression of regret by the Mayor of Taranto for the killing of two Indian fishermen by Italian marines from the Enrica Lexie, and his offer to take up the responsibility of educating the bereaved children gains significance from the city’s historical association with India.

I discovered that association quite by chance in 1967 when I was an officer on board INS Brahmaputra. My ship was diverted to Taranto owing to a coup against King Constantine in Greece, our original destination,

The ship berthed in Taranto in the early hours of a Sunday. There was no one there apart from the shore berthing party of a few men.

As time went by, a large number of Taranto’s residents, including several senior citizens, started congregating near the ship. They carried placards welcoming the Indians to Taranto. It was a mystery to us as to why such a crowd was building up. We were told that the news of the Indian ship’s arrival was announced on the local radio. By the evening, the crowd had swelled. Several residents held placards inviting us to dinners, lunches and picnics.

I was invited to dinner by the family of the late Ms. Ines Ghosh, the Italian wife of the late Surgeon Rear Admiral J.N. Ghosh of the Indian Navy. Ghosh met Ines in Taranto where he was a prisoner of war. There I heard heart-rending stories of World War II. They narrated how when the British 8th Army comprising British, Australian, Canadian, Indian and troops of other nationalities invaded southern Italy in July 1943. The soldiers from all armies except the Indian Army indulged in rape, molestation and plunder.

One of the elderly ladies present told us how she was being chased by two Allied soldiers when an Indian soldier intervened and protected her. He told them not to harm her because she was his sister!

In another instance a posse of Indian soldiers voluntarily guarded an apartment building and prevented soldiers of the other Allied armies from entering it. There were numerous stories of heroism like this. These marvellous episodes bore testimony to the ethical standards and professionalism of the Indian Army.

The following day there was a special reception in honour of the personnel of INS Brahmaputra in the town hall. Meanwhile, invitations from the citizenry continued to flow, so much so that the late Captain Erach Debu, Commanding Officer of the ship, volunteered to keep harbour watch in the ship himself and let all his officers go ashore to attend the functions.

Several shops refused to accept money for the merchandise purchased by the ship’s personnel.

When the ship left port finally after four days, virtually the entire town was on the jetty with several bands in attendance to bid adieu. It was a very moving and emotional experience.

The Italian marines issue has cast an ugly shadow over the two countries. It needs to be resolved in the true spirit of Taranto and in the mutual interests of India and Italy.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Writing Your Cover Letters – oDesk Cover Letters

0

While beginning your career on oDesk , you better understand the influence and importance of cover letter, it plays a vital role for you on oDesk as well as on Elance and other freelancing platforms. It is the thing which lays an impression of you in front of client indirectly. You always need to make efforts and keep updating it for each sort of Job.

Here I list few mistakes which are commonly made by freelancers:

1. Less Attention to Job

Most contractors on Odesk/ Elance do a common mistake while bidding over the job, they didn’t read the job posting carefully and most of them use a copied cover letter for every job post , they even didn’t read carefully the job requirement. Always go through the job requirement if you want to increase your hiring, mention something relevant to the job and your intention about the job.

2. Spelling Mistakes

It’s the things which can spoil your maximum chances for getting considered by the client, so be careful while posting the cover letter; make use of spell-checker to proof your writing if you don’t know English well. Nowadays, many online spell-checkers are available i.e. Ginger software, Thesaurus, Grammerly check etc. Misspellings and bad grammar harm your professionalism so be careful.

3. Underestimation of Cover Letter

Cover letter is the main weapon of freelancers while interacting with the client regarding the job posted. It is the way to let the client know about your willingness for the job and what techniques or things you going to use for the completion of the task assigning by them. Clients don’t have too much time to go through every cover letter so keep your cover letter descriptive to the point, don’t share irrelevant details. Don’t make it very big neither too short one liner or two liners.
